About Dr. Miry

Dr. Shokooh Miry is a Stanford-trained psychologist specializing in the care of child, adolescent and adult patients struggling with emotional difficulties. She is a highly trained practitioner of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT] for problems including: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, borderline personality disorder, and self-harming behaviors. Dr. Miry has been honored to attend or receive training from:

Dr. Miry completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Stanford University Hospital Department of Psychiatry. At Stanford, Dr. Miry's clinical work emphasized evidence-based practice, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She completed a one-year training rotation in the Stanford Couples and Family Clinic.

Dr. Miry completed her pre-doctoral fellowship at the Duke University Medical Center, where she was trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and the treatment of mood disorders, personality disorders, and substance abuse. She received extensive training in the Duke Eating Disorders Clinic, where she served as individual therapist and group therapist for patients struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating, and other eating problems. While at Duke, Dr. Miry served as a study therapist for a large research study examining DBT for substance abuse.

Dr. Miry’s pre-doctoral clinical training and research also included work at the UCSF Department of Child Psychiatry, the VA Palo Alto Anxiety Clinic, and the Veterans Affairs National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress.

In addition to seeing patients in her private practice, Dr. Miry teaches at Palo Alto University and trains/supervises doctoral students in the Gronowski Clinic, a community mental health clinic.
